City Expands TPU Pondok Ranggon for COVID-19 Graves

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency cleared land with area of 13,500 square meters for COVID-19 graves at Pondok Ranggon Public Cemetery (TPU), East Jakarta.

The land area is 13,500 square meters

Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho conveyed, land was cleared as requested by Park and Urban Forest Agency.

"The land area is 13,500 square meters. The Park and Urban Forest Agency has requested it because land used for COVID-19 graves at Pondok Ranggon is about to run out of space. So, we clear the land around the location," he explained, Friday (9/11).

In clearing the land, his side used heavy equipment such as excavator, payloader, and dump truck. His side used for cut and fill process, which makes the soil surface flatter thus easier for the excavation process for burial.

"The soil condition is still uneven, so we need to cut and fill the land. It will make it flatter thus it can be easier to bury the body," he added.

The land clearing work has been going on for two months and it is targeted to finish in this week. "It will finish in this week. When it finished, it can be used immediately. We will move to TPU Tegal Alur for similar work as requested," he mentioned.
